Springtime

It was lovely this evening to watch the boys playing football out in the back garden while the sun was still shining, and I managed to cut the grass too.  Bloody freezing now though and the heating has been whacked back up to full.

Went for a coffee, well a herbal tea, this morning with my mum, and James of course. He was fascinated with a cuckoo clock, although I don't think it was a cuckoo, but a cat that boinged out of the house, bit like Garfield, and it definitely miaowed, so I guess it wasn't really a cuckoo clock.
Anyway, about the stupid clock, James was so intent on seeing it "Cuckoo/Miaow" on the half hour that he fell and caught his ear on the corner of the table, and my, did he scream.  His eart went bright read, then purple and he has a little bruise, poor love.  He felt better once we went into Poundland and bought him a couple of crappy  lovely toys.

When we got home we had lunch in the garden and I got the paints out for James, thankfully not too messy as out in the garden, which just means the grass becomes multicoloured instead of the floors and walls inside the house.

Monday

The sun continued to shine today, so made the most of this dry weather by spending time outside.

Mike finished early today, so we both took James to the library and to the park on his scooter.  Normally takes 5 to 10 minutes to walk with James to the park,on the scooter we are looking at 30-40 minutes (well maybe that is a slight exageration).

Tuesday

Mikes day off, day at home, boring food shopping, that kind of thing. 

Wednesday

Went to the local HE group, lovely weather again

Breathes a sigh of relief

We breath a sigh of relief, for now anyway.  We had James's appointment with his Epilepsy specialist on Thursday.  It was to be a discussion on whether to wean him off his meds - or not.

We were very very nervous.  We knew that it was a very good sign that James had not had a seizure for nearly two  years (last one on 14 March 2010) and that there was a good chance that he had grown out of it.  We also were petrified at the thought of him coming of his meds and the possibility of him having  seizures again.

We were told by the Dr that it was a very good sign that James had had ear infections, very high temperatures, an anaesthetic, chest infection and lots of colds etc without having a seizure.  Being on the meds does not always work if you are ill.  So he was very pleased and said again that there was a good chance that he will grow out of it as he gets older.

He suggested that James grow out of his dosage, and we have another appointment near James's 6 birthday,in just over a years time.  We are very pleased that the outlook is good, to say the least, but at the same time remain on guard, as we also know that James may not grow out of it, and will have to face the future with him as a child who has Epilepsy.  For now though, we carry on, hoping and praying that he will remain seizure free, and that one glorious day he will remain seizure free without the use of medication.


After his appointment we took him out for something to eat and a play at The Waie Inn, Zeal Monochorum

He is a brilliant, lovely, cheeky, brave and very special little boy.

Weekend

First of all at training, Danny clashed heads with his mate and came home looking like this:-

So on our trip to the Chiefs for Super Saturday, on Saturday of course, we were worried he may not be able to take part in training with the team, but they said it would be OK and he managed to do all the drills apart from the contact game at the end.  They also got a tour of the players changing rooms.

Danny had a really great time.

Becky, James and I arrived at the end of the training session, so we got to have our lunch with everyone, and James decided to do some training himself

In the afternoon it was time to watch the Chiefs in action against Sale, with the Crediton team lining up with other youngsters who also took part, to clap the Chiefs onto the pitch.

Cant see our lot, but James is also out there too, being carried by Danny.

Before the match the Mascot paraded round, and James loves him, so I rushed down to the front so James could High 5 him

Then he had his photo taken with him.

Then The Big Chief ran off with him, James was not amused lol

At half time all the youngsters got to parade around the pitch in their teams, Mike as the Coach too, and also James as the Crediton mascot.

After the match Danny and James got their rugby ball signed by players from both sides, including England player Mark Cueto

Great day, and even better the Chiefs won. 

Onto Sunday and more rugby, and for the first time this season we lost, just by one try though to a very large (as in large children) Barnstaple side.

Never mind.

Been a while

Where does the time go, just looked at my last post and it is about Valentines Day.

A few things I remember from the last two weeks:-

I took James to Crealy, first time since Halloween.  Lots of stuff still not open, bit naff, but he still loved it:-

Been enjoying the Spring Sunshine

Went to the museum

Mum and Dad went of to Oz to see my brother get married - we will have to wait for the re-run over here in a few weeks time.

Rugby most Sundays.



Kids are back at school, both doing extremely well.  I am adjusting to being a parent of school children, as well as a home educating mum.

Oh, and I turned 41.

Really loving this springtime weather, and I am even in my flip flops, bit of a shock though when the sun goes down - bloody freezing.
