Breathes a sigh of relief

We breath a sigh of relief, for now anyway.  We had James's appointment with his Epilepsy specialist on Thursday.  It was to be a discussion on whether to wean him off his meds - or not.

We were very very nervous.  We knew that it was a very good sign that James had not had a seizure for nearly two  years (last one on 14 March 2010) and that there was a good chance that he had grown out of it.  We also were petrified at the thought of him coming of his meds and the possibility of him having  seizures again.

We were told by the Dr that it was a very good sign that James had had ear infections, very high temperatures, an anaesthetic, chest infection and lots of colds etc without having a seizure.  Being on the meds does not always work if you are ill.  So he was very pleased and said again that there was a good chance that he will grow out of it as he gets older.

He suggested that James grow out of his dosage, and we have another appointment near James's 6 birthday,in just over a years time.  We are very pleased that the outlook is good, to say the least, but at the same time remain on guard, as we also know that James may not grow out of it, and will have to face the future with him as a child who has Epilepsy.  For now though, we carry on, hoping and praying that he will remain seizure free, and that one glorious day he will remain seizure free without the use of medication.


After his appointment we took him out for something to eat and a play at The Waie Inn, Zeal Monochorum

He is a brilliant, lovely, cheeky, brave and very special little boy.
